Ducts can be insulated either from the start, or the insulation can be inserted in a duct after it has been drawn.
In the start duct dialog you will find a tab called Insulation Duct Representation

Insulation can be started and ended with the same function. If you want fire insulation on each side of the wall, help lines may be useful
